My mom and grandma live together.

I say:

I feel like my grandma rubs off on my mom.

Is this okay?

Yes, if by it you mean that your mother is influenced by your grandmother.

Yes, my mom is getting more and more similar to grandma.

It works for me.

matt, please read this extract from the forum rules:

I'd avoid this phrase, batman.

'Rub off' has another, smutty meaning which prurient minds will find highly amusing.

I don't even know what that means, but the phrase is fine in AmE.

rub off = masturbate

Cf 'rub one out', heard more than once in the American sitcom 'Two and a Half Men'.

Indeed, "rub one out" is a vulgar phrase for masturbation, but "she's rubbing off on me" means that I am become more like her.

Grandma is rubbing off on my mom = Mom is getting more like Grandma.
