Hello,
I cannot understand how the following sentence was composed. Can anybody explain the structure of the sentence and give a couple sentences with the same structure?
The sentence is "So much in our society is about making more and more money."

I think the problem is the meaning of "so much" here. If you know its meaning then it wouldn't so difficult to understand how the sentence is composed.
I don't have the answer but I just found one here. That may be helpful.

Hi, anhnha.

Is it grammatically correct to write "... then it wouldn't (...)"? What does come after wouldn't, please?

I made a mistake. It should be "it wouldn't be so difficult...."

Great question!

"So much" is an idiomatic expression. It means:

- a great deal, a great deal of
- a lot, a lot of
- a huge amount, a huge amount of
- a big serving or portion, a big serving or portion of

We say:

- "I love you so much!"
- "I ate so much cake!"

Or you can think of it structurally. It implies an unstated thought:

- "I love you so much (that I'm floating!)"
- "I ate so much cake (that I won't eat again for a week)!"

It's conversational short-hand.

Now the sentence makes perfect sense, right?

Charlie, it is a great explanation, thank you. It is clearer for me now.

It makes us think there is new information or a follow-up question and we spend time opening the thread. Simply click on the "Thank" button at the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful.
