Can "parent" be used as a verb like "parent children"?
I've heard "parenting" for rearing children, but never heard of "parent" as a verb.

Nouns readily convert into verbs in English. You will certainly hear parent used as a verb. It's redundant in my view, given that we have the perfectly good verbs rear and raise, but those who prefer to parent their kids never bother to ask me about usage. It's vexing. :-(

I think it's mainly in AmE that it can be used as a verb. Note, however, that even then, its use is limited, as GoesStation has explained above.

It is used in BrE, in things like "My husband and I have separated but we are determined to co-parent our children".

"Parenting" contains "parent" as a verb.

"Parenting" contains "parent" as a verb.

It does if used in the present continuous ("We are parenting ...") but I must admit the first thing that came to my mind was "Helicopter parenting" (a noun).
