What does "pick out" mean in football?

GOAL Man City 1-0 Everton (44 mins)
Pick that one out! An exquisite ball from Joao Cancelo finds Raheem Sterling, who puts Man City in front with a sumptuous half-volley

It's possibly a reference to the highlights of a match. Perhaps the commentator is suggesting that when the highlights are chosen, to be shown on TV later, that shot should be picked.
However, as far as I know, it doesn't have a specific meaning in football.

It's a mocking, triumphal instruction to the goalkeeper (even though he can't hear the commentator) to pick the ball out of the net after he's been beaten by a great shot.

(Keen football fan)

Reading the replies, it could be either to me- the goalkeeper's misery, or a goal to pick for goal of the week, etc. (Not a football fan)

I'm a keen football fan too. Rover_KE is right. This is a common expression in football. It means 'pick the ball out of the back of the net'. It's usually said after a goal where the shot has been hit with considerable power.
