Be careful not to hit your shins on the platform.

Shin or shins?

Is it called platform, or just edge of the bed? Or ledge?

You could hit one shin or two.

I would call it the bed or the bed base, not the platform.

Even though it's possible to hit only one shin, the plural is normal in warnings of that sort.

That bed base is very low to the ground. An adult would be more likely to hit their ankles or stub their toe on it. If you were talking to a child, I'd just say "Don't trip over the bed" or "Be careful around the bed".

I would have no idea what to call that bed. I've never seen one. It looks like someone took a perfectly good bed and sawed the legs off! ;-)

I'd call it a platform bed.

I'd call it 'wood'. "We've just bought this ridiculous bed. Make sure you don't hit your shins on the wood." Or "the jutting out bits".

Platform beds were briefly popular at one time. The thing on which their owners risked barking their shins was the platform.

Nice word, 'bark'. "Quit barking your shins. I'm trying to sleep!"

That would be Quit barking, you shins! I'm trying to sleep.
