Potential

Ron says I have potential.
That's the power to achieve.
But there's a catch, he says.
First I have to believe.
I have to believe in myself,
Believe in what's possible,
And work
To achieve that potential.

The question is would "realize" work as well as the second "achieve"?

Opinions, please!

For me, "realise" (or "reach") collocates much better with "potential" than "achieve" does.
