Present progressive vs be going to

Hello,

Why it is that in most cases present progressive form is more often used than be going to?

Eg., What are you wearing at the party tonight?/ What are you going to wear at the party tonight?​

What time are you leaving tomorrow?/What time are you going to leave tomorrow?

(In both sentences the test said that 'be going to' was a wrong option)

There is no context and I know that both can be used, but like I said almost in all situations in tests they choose present progressive form instead of be going to.

There are many different ways to talk about the future, present continuous/progressive is one of them.
