Is this sentence correct? (I find the the following sentence a bit weird.)
At the conference there were many experts in various fields who proposed their advice to students.

The source of my sentence is a report made by my student (I work as a tutor)

It's not correct.

I would probably say who offered advice to students.

You could also say they gave their advice.

You propose ideas, which you are not sure would be accepted. You offer/give/provide advice based on your experience/expertise in a particular field.

That experience/expertise could be just about anything. For example, if you are a new parent you might want to get some advice from your own parents. Or you might want to talk to somebody (an older person) and get some advice based on their life experience.
