Hello! I tried to talk to naitive speaker and I had a question: how to say "put money on the phone" correctly? I wanted to say that I need to put money on the phone and then I can call my friend. But I don't think this option that I said is correct, so I would like to know how the naitive speakers would say in this case.

You can say, for example:

I need to get/buy (some) credit for my phone, so I can call my friend.
or
I need to top up the balance on my phone, so I can call my friend.

towcats, please note that I've changed your thread title. It now includes the exact words of the phrase you're asking about.

Where I live we normally speak of buying or adding some minutes (for voice calls) or some mobile data.
