[Grammar] Reason vs Reasons

'The boy would use any reason to win the argument.'
Should it be 'reasons', or is 'reason' correct?

It's hard to know what that means without context. Could you provide some?

I don't think "reason" is the word you are looking for.
 
I don't find it particularly natural either. I'd go with something like "The boy would say anything to win an argument".

I made the sentence up in my head. It doesn't have a source-unless you count my mind as the source-or an author. The same goes for the other question I asked.

In that case, please make this clear in post #1 of every such thread.

For example, start by saying something like 'I wrote the following sentence myself'.
