Hi,
I'm a native english speaker and I'm looking for english grammar books and books with examples of beautiful and advanced sentences.

Some of the books I'm looking for include:

  • A LOT of examples: I believe repeating phrases and seeing a lot of examples is the best way to learn - just like martial arts
  • Sentence construction: examples ranging form simple to big and complicated sentences.
  • Perhaps a book full of great grammar exercises (with answers)

My goal is to upgrade my english writing and speaking skills.

Any good Grammar apps for the phone? Or websites you recommend?

So far i have ordered: The blue book of grammar and punctuation.

Kind regards

It's always worth having a copy of Michael Swan's Practical English Usage.

Does it have a companion volume, The Blue Book of Capitalization? :)

I've highlighted all the capitalization errors in your post. Please review capitalization rules -- they don't require a whole book; just a page or so covers nearly everything.

English Grammar: Your Questions Answers

I really want become better at speaking and writin: knowing when to use: whom, whose, whose, few / less, the right prepositions, subject-verb agreements.

What novels or books have a nice flow to them? I was thinking Lord of the Rings or something were the grammar and flow of words are like melodies for the ears :)

I enjoy Bill Bryson's writing. When I skimmed his book on English usage, I thought it looked worthwhile - but I haven't read it carefully.

Are you a native speaker, grammar123?

Why don't you write a brief paragraph about yourself, and your experience of English education so far? This might help us advise you in the future, and give you an opportunity to practise your writing and to learn from our corrections.

Please don't use home-made emoticons to replace standard punctuation marks.

I'm half Scandinavian half American, so I think and speak American quite fluently. When it comes to writing I seem to be unaware of how the grammar works.
I would like to write some stories / books on psychology or children's books some day, but at the moment I need to learn to construct and master grammatically
correct sentences.
