Could you have a look at the screenshots: the task and the answer key.

My answer was:

If it were not for his stubbornness,

It is type 2 of conditionals. I'm afraid I have to differ with the answer key as they changed the type to 3.

What do you think?

My answer was:

If it were not for his stubbornness,
That's correct.
It is type 2 of conditionals.
No.

If it were nor for his stubbornness (in general time) he wouldn't have got into so much trouble (in past time).

Pardon, I can't catch your idea. You gave the same answer as I did.

I was not too precise. Not conditionals but a conditional.

In the task we have a mixed case: Type 2 - Type 3.

If clause is of type 2.
