Is the use of "suss" this way acceptable to you?

suss
Short for the word 'suspicious'.

It is to me, in an informal situation. (BrE)

I'd have no idea what the speaker was talking about.

Yes, it is a slang word in England. I don't know whether its use extends outside England, but I suspect it doesn't. I'm not even certain it is used outside southern England.

I don't know what you mean by asking whether it's 'acceptable'. Since it's slang, it's acceptable in some situations but not others. You absolutely should not use it.

It's common in AmE as well, although I always thought it was short for 'suspect'. I don't use it myself, but it's common with the younger generations. Not sure if it's regional in the US or just generational.

Edit. You'll see it written as 'sus', at least in AmE.

Edit #2. Similarly, you'll see 'sketch', as in 'sketchy' used for similar purposes.
