Is option B also possible to native speakers?

Yes. That's another poor test question. At least C and D are impossible answers. I guess two out of four isn't as bad as some we've seen.

Not only is B possible, but I would want to know why A is considered the correct answer.

If you're talking about people in general you should in my humble opinion start with "Some people". For example, "Some people like red cars, some like blue cars, and some like black cars."
