Hello guys,

I'm trying to understand a book about surfing.
I don't understand what : "A wave idles in." means exactly. It's the only sentence !
How can you describe this type of wave in surf culture ?

Thanks you. If I have more vocabulary needing, I will ask here :)

Bye.

idles in means moves slowly/lazily ashore.

Hello. [STRIKE]guys,[/STRIKE] Unnecessary form of address and could be taken to be referring only to our male members.

I'm trying to understand a book about surfing. I don't understand what (no colon here) "A wave idles in (no full stop here)" means exactly. It's the only sentence!
How can you describe this type of wave in surf culture?

[STRIKE]Thanks[/STRIKE] Thank you. If I [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] need more help with vocabulary, [STRIKE]needing,[/STRIKE] I will ask here.

[STRIKE]:)[/STRIKE] Don't try to make your own emoticons.

[STRIKE]Bye.[/STRIKE] Unnecessary.

Note my corrections to your post. "It's the only sentence!" doesn't make sense. It makes it sound as if that's the only sentence in the whole book. Did you mean that it's the only sentence you didn't understand?

Don't put a space before a question mark or an exclamation point.

Welcome to the forum, AdrianUsh. :)

idles in means moves slowly/lazily ashore.

And that, by the way, is exactly what you as a surfer want: a predictable wave.
