Could you say which is correct?
1. All of these trifles are part of something, and that thing is my old house.
2. All of these trifles are part of some thing, and that thing is my old house.

They're both possible. Sentence #1 is more natural and likely. If you really need to emphasise the fact that you consider your old house a thing, you could use #2 and the stress would come on the word "thing". In sentence #1, the stress would come on the first syllable of "something", as it always does.
