Hi,

Please point out my mistakes.

The main responsibility of a good government is to reduce the prices of the necessities of life. Merely food is not meant by the necessities of life, but cloth, medical facilities, education etc. are included in the necessities of life. The government should examine the prices constantly so that citizens can live a proper life. There is no better service for citizens than this that they get everything easily and at an appropriate price.

I'm sorry. I tried to change the title after I had posted but could not.

.

Teechar, he might think that is the main responsibility of a good government.

Is "...A main duty..." incorrect?
Is "...to reduce the prices for the basic necessities..." incorrect?
Can I say "By basic necessities of life, we do not mean merely food" correct?
Can I say "...so that its citizens can live a reasonable life"?
Can I say "There's no better service for its citizens from the government that they are able to get everything conveniently and at an appropriate price"?

Is "...A main duty..." incorrect?

It's unnatural. Since "main" implies one thing, the usual expression is "the main ...etc."

Is "...to reduce the prices for the basic necessities..." incorrect?
Not, it's not incorrect, but that's not really the government's job.

Can I say "By basic necessities of life, we do not mean merely food?" [STRIKE]correct?[/STRIKE]
Yes, you can.

Can I say "...so that its citizens can live a reasonable life"?
Yes, you can.

Can I say "There's no better service for its citizens from the government that they are able to get everything
conveniently and at an appropriate price"?
No, that's ungrammatical and unnatural.
