take/answer a call

I'm writing a script:

Through the window, Jane sees Lydia dig into her purse, pull out her phone, and take/answer a call.

(the phone rings and Lydia answers it)

Are either of 'take' and 'answer' OK here? Are there other options?

In my view both are acceptable but a British speaker would be more likely to use "answer".

As a BrE speaker I would normally use "take" in a context where somebody else answered and then transferred the call to me.
