“Obviously these allegations have now been passed to the police, and I think it is appropriate now that that police investigation is allowed to take its course.” [From The Guardian.]

Is the first "that" a pronoun and the second one a conjunction in "
I think it is appropriate now that that police investigation is allowed to take its course"?

Thank you.

I can't see that my answer makes much sense now that the original post has been edited since my reply. My answer does not relate to the edited post, so I'm deleting it.

I have deleted my response as well.

PLEASE don't edit posts after they have received response, tcacka. Edited posts can make a nonsense of responses that people have taken the time and trouble to post.

I've changed the size of letters, the content of my question is unchanged.
