Hello, I would like some help with the following paragraph that someone sent in a Discord server and said that he found it online in Spanish and translated it into English:
"The days go by and bring us closer and closer to death, that inevitable death, the fruit of the major fears that we have, which most people want to escape in a nonsensical illusion, and toward which an individual, whose hopes are absolutely lost, like me, wants to go."
This is not the entire text but I think it's enough to give the appropriate amount of context.
My question is: Is the "the" before fruit optional in this context or is it necessary? I think that because it's already clear what "fruit" is referring to (death) the "the" is not necessary. I would like to hear your opinions on this.
