Hi.

Today is November 11th. It is written as 11.11 here as a special day originally to celebrate one's being single. Later, this day becomes an online shopping day because most of the things are on sale. Today, to my surprise, a supermarket also put many of its goods on sale. I see so many people in the supermarket because of today and I wrote a sentence for it "There are so many people in the supermarket because of the discount day today".

I wonder if you can help me to improve the sentence to natural.
