This is a comment I just found on the internet to/on an article on the Middle East.

"To" or "in" would work, but not "on".

I have to disagree - 'comment on' something is a common phrase.

'In' suggests it's a quotation from the article. I understood the sentence to be in reference to reader comments left (typicially below) in regards to an online article.
