hi, would you teachers like to tell me whether it's true to use this form in English? 'to doing something'?
thanks !!

Hi julianna,

(I love your name, by the way. It was on the short list of names we considered for our daughter.)

You can have "to do" or "doing" but I can't think of anything that works with "to doing."

What about this?;

be used to doing something

Sure, that works.

But that pairs "used to" together, and the "to" is not an infinitive marker for the "doing." I was thinking solely of the to-as-infinite.

When 'to' is a part of the verb/infinitive , it can't be followed by -ing, when 'to' is a preposition it should be followed by -ing form (=gerund) or a noun.
Another such example: I look forward to hearing from you.

hey Barb !! you can add this name to the list of your daughter , my real name is "Hadjer", and Julianna "is my surname !!

Hello julianna!
One more to your list:
Don't confine yourself to doing sth. only!

who said that i do so?? lol !! thanks ..

Would you explain, why there needed 'to'?
Thanks.
This is because you can confine something to something.
From a dictionary:
The sick child was confined to bed.

Thank you mmasny. Though I think it is connected not only with the word 'confine' because the combination 'yourself to doing' is far more frequent in google than the same without 'to'.

Why do you thumb your post down?

The icons are just above the buttons to save in the editor, so you probably clicked on it by accident when trying to post. I have removed it. ;-)
