to sew something off - meaning

Hello everybody!

Yesterday I watched the process of sewing a button onto a coat on YouTube. While watching it, I heard "and you're gonna be sewing it off" or "and you're going to be sewing it off". The sentence occurs 1 minute 37 seconds into the presentation and the whole video lasts a little more than 2 minutes. In my opinion, the sentence means "and you're going to be finishing sewing the button on". Could you do me a favour and have a look at the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsnQIIIj9NE?

I don't have time for the video at the moment but I think "to sew off" means to tie the cotton at the end of sewing, so that the thread doesn't come undone again, causing the button to fall off again. However, I'm no seamstress, so I could be way off. I recall my mother using the term "to tie off the thread" for that action.
