How long did you cook the beef? It's tough and hard to chew. It's like chewing a bubble gum.

It's tough and hard to chew. Is this how you describe it?

Do native speakers typically describe eating tough meat as It's like chewing a bubble gum?

It's tough and hard to chew. Is this how you describe it?

That's one way, yes. An old TV commercial for denture adhesive featured a man at a restaurant regretfully saying the opposite: "Better get me something soft, easy to chew. Like squash."

Do native speakers typically describe eating tough meat as It's like chewing a bubble gum?

No. Bubble gum is non-countable, so we wouldn't use an article. But with or without the article, we wouldn't say that. We might say It's like chewing shoe-leather.

"It's tough" means "It's hard to chew" in this context. You don't need to say it twice.

You could say something like "it's as tough as jerky" or "It's like a piece of jerky".

Bubble gum is easy to chew.

I guess bubble gum is easy to chew. But what I meant was it was not as easy to cut with my teeth, like bubble gum. I mean, it's elastic. And when you try to casually cut it with your teeth, it won't get cut unless you really make an effort. (I need help with the last phrase.)
