Hi,

Which one is correct?
And why?

I would not live abroad unless / even if I could take my family.

Thanks in advance.

Both are correct, but mean different things.

With unless, it means that, if you could take your family with you, you would live abroad.
With even if, on the other hand, you are saying that you would not go to live abroad, no matter what.

OK, yes. "Except if" is the meaning, but it's not natural English. That was my point.

I send an email today as mentined below. Am I correctly used "even if"?

I presumed that expectd area would be around 2000 Sqmt,we shall go ahead with our proposal for the same amount on lumpsum basis (USD 50,000) even if quantity exceeded 10 % (upto 2200 Sqmt)

I take it to mean that you will go ahead whether or not it increases by 10%.

It means, our proposal would be applicaple upto 2200 sqmt. Even if less than 2000 sqmt the same amount would apply.

If the price applies to anything up to and including 2200 square metres, why do you need to mention 2000 square metres or 10% at all?

I visited one site. I haven't done detailed survey, client wants to submit pre-budget estimate immediately. I tentatively estimated based on my experience and site observations. In order to avoid losses I specified some conditions in the contract. My expectation would be around 2000 sqmt, even if exceeded (10%) upto 2200 square metres, I can make good profit. I felt(feel of fear) that client may revise lumpsum amount if quantity decreased less than 2000 square metres.
