1. Originally the book was written in Spanish and a few years ago it was translated into English.

2. Originally the book is written in Spanish and a few years ago it was translated into English.

Is the second sentence correct? Or only past passive is proper?
 
Only the past. Active voice is possible if you want to name the writer.
 
Hm, I thought that the word "orginally" determines the past passive.

Wouldn't the name of the author be only additional information? Would it really have an influence on what kind of passive we use?
