Hi,

It's about a class that studies the passive voice. The teachers wanted the passive voice of the follwing sentence: "We have been buying many books."
I've read the following answer: "Many books have been being bought"

It's wrong, isn't it?

Re: Weird sentence

No, that is the correct passive. No one would ever use it though. It sounds silly, and there's no reason to use the passive there.

Re: Weird sentence

As the others said, the sentence is grammatically OK. But you're right: it's a weird sentence. It would never be used by any native speaker and is not worth studying.

Re: Weird sentence

Converting sentences into the passive often produces sentences that are not natural.
