Does "whatcha say" mean "what did you say"?

Wikipedia explains it as "what are you", which is different.

"Whatcha" means "What are you" in things like "Whatcha doing?"

It normally means 'What did you say?' or 'What do you say'?
Can you give us a link to that explanation?

[h=2]whatcha - Wiktionary[/h]2020-1-8 · (colloquial) Contraction of what are you. Whatcha doin'? Whatcha talking 'bout? Whatcha sayin'?· (colloquial) Contraction of what have you. Whatcha been up to?· (colloquial) Contraction of what do you. Whatcha think? Whatcha got there? Whatcha wanna do now? (colloquial) Contraction of what you. Do whatcha gotta do!

whatcha normally means what are you, not what do you or what did you.

whadja (pronounced with a 'j' sound) is a way of writing what do you or what did you.

However, in the case of the song lyric in question, whatcha means what did you. That may be because the person writing the lyric didn't know how, or didn't want, to write whadja.
