Please note that this use of "attend" is unusual. It might work in a literal/highly formal context, but I don't recommend that you use it in your sentences.

I'm still not sure what makes the sentence modified by me inaccurate. Is it just that the usage sounds strange to the natives' ears or there is something wrong with it grammatically?

By using the passive, you've actually swapped object and subject! You need to be mindful of that.
However, I was actually commenting about the original phrase, from the Longman Dictionary.
In any case, neither phrase/sentence is any good. Just forget about that use of "attend".
