Is it witness to a crime or witness in a crime?

Thank you!

Thank you!

I assume you mean when "witness" is being used as a noun.

I was a witness to a crime.
He was the only witness to the crime.

If you're using it as a verb, then it stands perfectly well alone.

I witnessed a crime.
He witnessed the burglary.
