I've never noticed "RP" and wouldn't have had a clue what it meant without it being included in the acronyms.

I'm afraid that I haven't, in the past, personally used "received" in this context. I might have used "perceived" in a similar situation, but there's a subtle difference in nuances between the two.

The Free Dictionary, particularly the Thesaurus section, has a very good definition of "received" in this context.

I just used "PM" in a post and thought this one could be added too. I'm not sure if it's not going to cause problems though. Prime Ministers may have trouble introducing themselves to us.
