[Tdol's Blog] Nova
Nova
When I was living in Japan, it was virtually impossible to avoid Nova advertising; they were all over the subway, in my newspaper and on TV. Re: [Tdol's Blog] Nova
What ? I am very surprise, because I saw NOVA on the site.
Yes, NOVA is a famous, also infamous, school in Japan.
I never studied one. The reason is there are many troubles with customers.
If I selected NOVA, I couldn't speak and write English well.

Irrelevantly, this reminds me of the renaming of the Vauxhall Nova for the Spanish market, in which a car called 'it doesn't go' was thought to be unwise.

Re: [Tdol's Blog] Nova
I've nothing good to say about NOVA or for that matter any eikaiwa operating in Japan. I've taught in South Korea, in China, and in Japan for 6 years, and I can tell you from first hand experience that English is NOT acquired in the latter country. It's learned, unused, learned again, forgotten, and basically it turns into a kind of communicative hobby, where language isn't the means nor the end, but a self-induced medium of torture for both the learner and the teacher. Let the eikaiwas free-fall! Leave language learning to the professionals.

It's a huge topic- a huge chain about to go under, and one with a dreadful reputation.
