Definition:

An onomatopoeia is a word which imitates the sound it represents.

EXAMPLES OF ONOMATOPOEIA:

'splash' sounds similar to the noise of something falling into water.

'thud' sounds like a falling object hitting the ground.

'buzz' is the sound an insect makes when flying.
