hii, what does Borisovich Shklovsky mean by this statement: "The purpose of art is to impart the sensation of things as they are perceived and not as they are known." Thank you in advance ^^

Some things are perceived by the senses (look up "perception/perceive"). Other things are known (knowledge).

Really it's a rather trite sentence and probably doesn't do justice to his theory of art.
