correct preposition "in" or "on"
Recession did not have much impact "on" India. This sentence is from today's news paper. The preposition "on" is correct or not?

***** NOT A TEACHER *****
(1) I believe that "on" is the correct preposition:
The world-wide recession has not had much impact on [the economy of]
India. (I think "impact" collocates with "on.")

I agree, but it could also be written as below, meaning the impact on the people of India.
"(The) Recession did not have much impact in India."
