Exposure to cold weather will not give you a cold because colds are caused by viruses, says Professor Raina MacIntyre, adding that there are around 200 viruses responsible for the common cold.
Catch a chill is related to nothing more, nothing less than hypothermia as a result of undue exposure to cold weather.
Catch a cold is related to hypothermia plus virus infection.
This is my understanding.
