Well, given that in English we don't roll our "Rs", I think it's very likely that the instructions on that website were not written by a native English speaker. That would explain the spelling mistake.

Taut = stretched tight.

As said previously (twice) "taught" is an error and makes no sense.

"Holding your tongue taut" makes perfect sense.
