Hey, do I have to use won't or don't in the following sentence?
I hope you won't ever forget me.
I hope you don't ever forget me.
("me" as an example)
I know that won't comes from will not and is for the future, but when I want to say that to someone what would you suggest?
I appreciate your help!
Hi and welcome to the forums!
Use "won't" here: I hope you will not = I hope you won't.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
How about solving the problem with "I hope you never forget me!"
Thanks for the quick answer! I'll use "wont"
and to the second answer: yes i could say that but it would sound different, wont ever sounds more dramatic;)
