Dear teachers,

Please help me figuring out the meaning of orange-words below:

Dolly and I pointed out to each other shoes of all colours, petticoats, silk scarves and white gloves. Dolly so loved buckled shoes that she kept a little collection of the worn-out footwear hidden under a loose floorboard in our back house.

Does it mean Dolly and the speaker have very different tastes in choosing those items, or does it mean they give comment to each others preference?

Neither. They each showed (pointed out) these things.

If you and I were walking in a farm, we might have a conversation like this:
Oh, look - there! What a cute lamb.
Oh yes, it's cute. And look at the little piglets.
Piglets are cute too. Oh, look over there -- thosehorses are huge!
I've never seen such big horses... but look at the size of that bull!
And so on.

We pointed out to each other piglets, lambs, horses, and animals of all sorts.
