    Default idiomatic expression for

    Hi,

Is there an idiomatic expression for, when families reunite on holidays or on some other occasions, talking about things (both good things and bad things) that happened in the past ?

    Thanks

A 'family reunion', 'family gathering' and a 'get-together' spring to mind.
Sometimes you might see 'clan gathering', but that's usually meant slightly ironically.

Reminiscing | Define Reminiscing at Dictionary.com

"Reminiscing" is how you would describe the activity of recalling the past and telling stories of those events.

Even when, for example, revisiting some horrible acts they have committed in the past, that nobody knows but them?

No, reminiscing is not the right word for confessions of secret transgressions.

Reminiscing is usually about shared experiences. It may be bittersweet, but not as heavy and serious as you ask.
