    Default Edge, Verge and Brink

Are there any differences between "Edge", "Verge" and "Brink"?
Which is the most appropriate word for this sentence? Or all of them are OK?
Pandas are on the ..... of extinction.

In that context, both "verge" and "brink" work for me, but not "edge". "Brink" would be my first choice.

    I agree with emsr2d2.
"Edge of distinction" feels incorrect to me.
Then, just for fun, I keyed "Pandas are on the edge of extinction" into Google, and got 2,960,000 hits.
Nevertheless, "brink" definitely sounds more elegant and has greater impact (in my opinion).
