    Our Chief Priest gave us an important piece of guidance as follows...

    Should it be 'guidance' or 'piece of guidance'?

    I'd say:

    He gave us an important guidance/advice.
    He gave us an important piece of advice.

    'Piece of guidance' does not work for me.

    Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
