    Default "Anyone" and "Whoever"

Which word is the most appropriate for this sentence?
That old man is not mad at all; he is just as same as ___________(anyone/whoever) else.
Can you tell me how to use these words? Thanks a lot.

What do you think? (Hint: another way of saying the second clause is 'There is no question that he is as sane as any person.)

I'd choose "anyone". Is it right?
When we ask a customer, we often say:"Anything else?". So I think the sentence I asked is the same.
Hope to hear from you soon.

    'Anyone' is needed here.

'Whoever', combining the meanings of 'anyone' and 'who(m)' (technically a nominal relative concessive pronoun), would be possible only with complementation by a clause.

Conversationally, for instance, one might have

Tell whoever else calls that I'm out.
