belch vs burp

This might seem disgusting, but just to know in detail, I'd like to know the difference between belch and burp, I heard "burp" a lot in Canada, and "burp" seems to be what happens from the stomach to the throat, and "belch" only seems a light one happening around the throat. What do you think?
