Default give a birth to / give birth to

I know we normally say 'give birth to'.

Is it possible to say 'give a birth to' then?

    Hi,

I don't know whether it's possible or not, but I have certainly never heard it.

COCA has 999 examples of give birth. The only example with the article was for someone who refused to give a birth date when asked. As that's not an example of what you're looking for, you can safely say that sticking to the form everyone uses is a good plan.
