Prepare for VS. has / have prepared for
(In a movie script)
A: If it reaches peak level...
B: We prepared for this, Doctor.

If we write 'have prepared for this' in place of 'prepared for'? is there a nuance between them you can sense?
Thank you so much as always and have a good day.
Re: Prepare for VS. has / have prepared for
Only that the present perfect would tend to suggest more recent preparation.
Re: Prepare for VS. has / have prepared for
Thank you so much, so do you consider the past tense in the script wrong?

What makes you think that?
