Light up or Lit up?

Do you say: The london eye -> gets lit up blue at night or gets light up blue at night

"At night, the London Eye is illuminated/lit up in blue."

They do use "lighted" sometimes in AmE, but it makes me cringe. A "well-lighted parking lot," for example.

You wouldn't cringe much in the UK on this issue.
