Can we use while as a subordinating conjunction to introduce adverbial clauses of time with the Past Continuous?
e.g.
The prisoners escaped when the prison warders were eating their lunch.

It would be better with "while" than with "when".

Does it mean that "when" is good but "while" is better?

In my opinion, "when" is possible and "while" is much better.
