Default Not only were there not many cartoons

This "not many" sounds kind of awkward along with "not only" as "not" is repeated two times, but to make such a meaning, it seems necessary. What do you think?

gip92)Almost every young Korean child or parent knows and loves Pororo the Little Penguin...It begins with niche marketing targeted at children aged 3 to 7. Not only were there not many cartoons for this age group, but also they were not of good quality...

It could be made a little easier with "not only were there few cartoons" but the original is not horrible.
